Westlake Doesn’t Waste Time Against Simi Valley, 35-14

It didn’t take Westlake High long to hit high gear Friday night in a Marmonte League game against Simi Valley.

Chris Catalano took back the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown and the Warriors (7-1-1, 3-1-1) were off to the races and a 35-14 victory over the Pioneers at Simi Valley.

Julian Lambert’s one-yard touchdown run capped a 10-play, 53-yard drive to give the Warriors a 14-0 lead midway through the first quarter. Lambert gained 111 yards in 23 carries and scored again on a seven-yard run with 42 seconds remaining in the second quarter for a 21-7 Westlake halftime advantage.

Zac Wasserman completed 13 of 24 passes for 129 yards. In the second half, he threw touchdown passes of 14 yards to Mike Seidman and 17 yards to Travis Campbell. Seidman had six receptions for 63 yards.

Tim Bird completed 11 of 28 passes for 197 yards for Simi Valley (3-6, 2-3). Bird connected with Kenny Davis on a 48-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

Noah Happe caught a 31-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Ben Santiago late in the fourth quarter for Simi Valley’s other touchdown. Happe had six receptions for 135 yards.
