Mike Murray

Track

Mike Murray finished fifth in the 800 meters at the California/Nevada Championships at UC San Diego last Saturday.

He finished with a time of 1 minute 52.52 seconds. Murray, who attended Santa Margarita High School, is one of the Anteaters’ top distance runners and is a standout on the cross-country team.

THIS WEEK

Track and Field--Chris Evans ran a season-best 15:09.56 in the 5,000 meters at the California/Nevada Championships. More than 800 competitors, including international athletes, will be featured in the Steve Scott Invitational at Irvine Sunday. Field events begin at 8:30 a.m.; running events begin at 10 a.m.

Women’s basketball--Lia Grainger, a 6-foot-2 center, has signed to play basketball at UC Irvine. Grainger averaged 21 points for Kitsilano High School in Vancouver, Canada, last season.
