Faith Baptist Victory, 57-0, Big Record-Setter

Faith Baptist High set or tied at least seven state baseball records on Tuesday in a 57-0 Heritage League victory over host Pilgrim in a game called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Freshman Christian Hariot set a national record with nine hits.

The Contenders (15-5, 10-1 in league) had 50 hits--including 12 doubles, five triples and nine home runs--shattering by 13 the state record for hits in a game.

The Contenders’ nine home runs tied a state record while they eclipsed by five the state record for runs in a game.

Hariot, who hit safely every bat, had four home runs and 12 runs batted in.

Hariot, who also tripled, became the 10th player in state history to hit four home runs in a game.

Julio Bautista finished six for eight with 13 RBIs and matched a state record with four doubles. Bautista homered twice, bringing his season total to nine.

The 28 runs in the fifth inning tied another state record.

Bautista (2-0), a junior right-hander, allowed two hits in five innings.

Pilgrim, winless in 11 league games, used four pitchers and committed eight errors.
