At Ventura High, 7:30 p.m.

Lompoc goes for its second consecutive upset after stunning top-seeded Westlake, 31-24. The Braves have to contain Tyler Ebell, who has 3,901 yards rushing, only 186 yards from the national season record. Ebell has 6,791 yards rushing in his career, 466 yards from the state record. Mike Velasquez intercepted three Westlake passes, including one with 3:11 left to set up the winning touchdown. Ebell had 356 yards and four touchdowns in 43 carries last week in a 38-21 victory over Royal. DIVISION XI

* ST. BONAVENTURE (12-0) vs. CARPINTERIA (6-5-1)

At Moorpark High, 7:30 p.m.

Carpinteria was 1-3 in Tri-Valley League play and lost to St. Bonaventure, 35-3, in the final regular-season game. The Seraphs broke open the game with three second-quarter scoring drives for a 28-0 halftime lead. “Our offense let us down,” Carpinteria Coach Coley Candaele said. “You have to control the clock by sustaining drives and keeping the ball away from [Lorenzo] Booker.” St. Bonaventure has won 26 consecutive games and shows no signs of slowing down in its attempt to repeat as division champion. The Seraphs are outscoring opponents by an average of 49-7 and rolled up 69 points against Malibu and 73 against Santa Ana Calvary Chapel in the first two rounds of the playoffs. The Warriors, who upended Nordhoff, 17-8, last week, lost tailback Rudy Aldana and two-way all-league lineman Noah Bryant to injury this week. Fullback Gordy Hernandez, who started for injured quarterback Chris Gocong, was lost after seven games to injury. Gocong, who directs the veer option after missing the first five weeks, has 1,104 yards of offense and 17 touchdowns. Booker has rushed for 2,563 yards and 37 touchdowns behind an offensive line that features three players weighing more than 280 pounds. Jack Swisher has completed more than 60% of his passes for 1,690 yards and 26 touchdowns. Sophomore Whitney Lewis has 42 receptions for 859 yards and 16 touchdowns.

DIVISION XII

* BOSCO TECH (10-2) vs. MONTCLAIR PREP (12-0)

At Valley College, 7:30 p.m.

Can anyone say David versus Goliath? Bosco Tech has edged Kilpatrick, 57-54, and Frazier Mountain, 21-17, in the first two rounds of the playoffs and top-seeded Montclair Prep has clobbered Bell-Jeff, 69-0, and Banning, 55-6. The Mounties blasted Kilpatrick, 50-0, in the sixth game of the season. “They’ve very big up front, they’re very fast and they’re very well-coached,” Coach Carlos Plantillas of Bosco Tech said. “We’ve got out work cut out for us, but if we can stay close to them for the first three quarters, I think we’ll have a chance because they’re not used to being in tight games.” Bosco Tech, which trailed by 10 points in the fourth quarter of both its playoff victories, is led by senior Michael Sencion, who has rushed for more than 1,400 yards. Montclair Prep has outscored its opposition by an average of 47-6. Gary Sonkur has rushed for 2,506 yards and scored 38 touchdowns. He also has intercepted seven passes as a defensive back. Senior Jason Goss doesn’t throw much in Montclair Prep’s run-oriented offense, but he has completed 44 of 76 passes for 850 yards and 12 touchdowns, and rushed for 319 yards and six touchdowns.

JUNIOR COLLEGE

* HANCOCK (8-2) vs. CANYONS (9-1)

Western State Conference Bowl, at Canyons, 1 p.m.

Canyons was second in defense in the conference, giving up 212.4 yards per game, including 61.6 yards on the ground. Hancock has to contend with quarterbacks Travis Winn and David Parker, who share the load and who distribute the ball to several talented receivers.
