OUTLOOK

The deep Centurions return 23 lettermen who are out to make up for last year’s bitter finish. In 1999, Cypress failed to make the playoffs because it lost three of its last four games, including defeats to El Dorado and Kennedy by a total of three points. According to Crabb, the receiving corps is inexperienced, which could be a challenge for senior quarterback Rice, who passed for 1,626 yards and 16 touchdowns last year. Free safety Clark, who had three interceptions last season, and tackle Hansen, one of four returning starters on the line, anchor a defense that could be among the best in the league. “We will be strong against the run,” Crabb said.
