Canyon 17, Quartz Hill 7--Mark Barr rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown, and caught a touchdown pass for the Cowboys (2-1) in a nonleague victory at Canyon.

Colin MacNeil ran 12 times for 50 yards and Ryan Sullivan added 40 yards in nine carries for the Cowboys.

After Canyon recovered a fumbled punt at the Rebels’ 37-yard line, Barr capped a 10-play drive with a two-yard touchdown run and caught the ensuing two-point conversion pass to give the Cowboys their first lead, 14-7, with 4:15 left in the third quarter.

Barr caught a 68-yard touchdown pass from Vince Titiriga that pulled the Cowboys within 7-6 with 10 seconds left in the first half. Titiriga completed five of 14 passes for 102 yards and one interception.

Mychael Williams ran for 127 yards in 16 carries for the Rebels (0-3), including a 91-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. The rest of the Rebels had seven total yards.

Senior Cam Robinson kicked a 41-yard field goal with 3:18 remaining. Robinson had a 49-yard punt that rolled dead at the Quartz Hill four-yard line.

“I missed a kick earlier, but I had no doubt that once I let it go, it was good,” Robinson said. “That was the longest I ever made in high school. We didn’t kick much last year.”

Josh Fricke of Quartz Hill completed two of 10 passes for eight yards and one interception.
