La Jolla The Bishop’s School 34, Whittier Christian 3--The stage was set on the first offensive play of the game at Whittier College, when running back Steve Jensen of The Bishop’s School broke over the middle for a 65-yard touchdown run. Before the night was over, Jensen scored three more touchdowns on runs of 32, 15 and 51 yards.
Before being taken out of the game at the 10-minute mark of the fourth quarter, Jensen had rushed for 287 yards on 22 carries.
The Knights’ (2-1) other score came through the air when quarterback Blake Walker connected with Craig Moore on a 26-yard touchdown pass.
Whittier Christian (1-2) was able to get on the scoreboard with 30 seconds remaining in the first half when Sam Paulescu kicked a 34-yard field goal.
David Jones led the Heralds in rushing with 45 yards in 18 carries. Gavin Moy carried the ball five times for 42 yards.
