Singles Play Sparks St. Bonaventure

Alie Hause , Catherine Hillman and Raine Mitchell each won three sets in singles and St. Bonaventure High defeated Channel Islands, 14-4, in a nonleague girls’ tennis match Friday at Channel Islands.

St. Bonaventure (4-1) moved No. 1 singles player Katie Callaghan and No. 2 player Alyssa Halcomb to No. 1 doubles, where they won, 6-0, 6-4, 6-0.

BOYS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

Viewpoint 24, Village Christian 31--Tom Kubler won the boys’ race in 20:28 and Adam Hutchinson placed second in 21:17 as Viewpoint won a nonleague meet at Village Christian.

GIRLS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

Village Christian 15, Viewpoint 48--Lauren Dvoracek set a course record in 23:41 and Village Christian swept the top five places in a nonleague meet at Village Christian.

Dvoracek broke the course record of 23:45 by Carolina Castellanos of L.A. Baptist. Ashly Katzenmeyer (25:01), Jenny Helberg (27:11), Rebekah Graham (27:53) and Amy Wall (28:40) rounded out the top five for Village Christian (3-0).

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Crescenta Valley 18, Culver City 12--Jeff Little and David Mulcahey each scored six goals for the Falcons (7-2) during pool play of the Zach Hahn tournament at Calabasas High.

Crescenta Valley, ranked No. 3 in the region by The Times, led 16-7 at halftime.

Ten players scored for Crescenta Valley in a 17-2 victory over Beverly Hills earlier in the day. Mike Hoy had six saves.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Saugus def. Brentwood, 10-15, 15-10, 15-13, 15-13--Gina Boersma had 10 kills and five blocks for the Centurions (3-1) in a nonleague match at Brentwood.

Saugus got seven straight service points from Jaimee Putich to overcome a 13-8 deficit in the third game.

Aimee Wecksler had eight kills and Joy Bolt had 22 assists.

Providence def. Oakwood, 13-15, 15-4, 15-7, 15-2--Allie Malloy had 13 kills and the host Pioneers (2-0, 1-0) won a Liberty League match.

Providence’s Michelle Pantaleo had eight kills and Allison Lane had 29 assists and six aces.
