St. Bernard 25, Littlerock 0--Herbert Blood rushed for 107 yards in 26 carries for host Littlerock (1-3).

The Lobos were held to 128 yards, and Joe Fields completed only three of 14 passes for 19 yards. Littlerock committed two turnovers.

Trailing, 12-0, Littlerock opened the third quarter with a 10-minute, 61-yard drive to the four. But on a fake field goal, Jeff Mauldin’s pass was intercepted by Kenneth Pitchford and returned 98 yards for a touchdown.

Niegel Clements had two touchdown runs for St. Bernard (3-0-1).

Temple City 42, Hoover 15--Robert Kurtz completed five of 16 passes for 89 yards and one touchdown and ran for another score for Hoover (0-4) at Glendale High.

Kurtz capped an 80-yard, 15-play drive with a 26-yard touchdown pass to Jose Herrera for Hoover’s first score late in the first half.

It was the Tornadoes’ first passing touchdown since Oct. 2, 1998.

The drive was aided by three offsides penalties and a 30-yard completion from Kurtz to Robert Pena on a fake punt. Peter Rojas ran for a two-point conversion that cut Temple City’s lead to 21-8.

Kurtz capped a 10-play, 66-yard drive with a one-yard scoring sneak and Teo Shamoomian’s conversion kick pulled Hoover to within 35-15 with 7:50 left.

Sal Rangel rushed for 44 yards in eight carries for Hoover, which was limited to 163 yards. Temple City improved to 3-1.
