The San Fernando Valley and Santa Ana Foothill softball tournaments were postponed on Saturday because of wet grounds.

The final two rounds of each tournament have been rescheduled for next Saturday, tournament officials said.

San Fernando Valley tournament semifinals will feature Crescenta Valley against Notre Dame and Newbury Park against Saugus.

Hart, ranked No. 10 in the nation by Student Sports, will play defending national champion Foothill, ranked No. 2, in a pool play game for a berth in the Foothill tournament final.

Chaminade, another Foothill tournament participant, announced Saturday that its Mission League showdown with Notre Dame has been rescheduled for Thursday.

The game between the Mission League favorites was postponed Thursday because of a bomb threat at Chaminade Middle School, where the Eagles play home games.

BASKETBALL

* Guard Courtney Young of Buena High scored nine points for the Red team in a 111-80 loss to the White on Saturday in the Nike/Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Assn. All-America game in Hartford, Conn.

Young is one of four players who have signed with Tennessee who played in the game.

Joe Vaughan of Buena was the coach of the White team.

* Two cracked vertebrae in Kyle Kegley’s back have sidelined the Thousand Oaks High senior at a time when he hoped to be impressing college scouts at basketball camps.

Kegley, a two-time All-Ventura County selection by The Times, said Saturday he will try to treat the fractures with physical therapy.

If that doesn’t work, the 6-foot-5 swingman might have to wear a back brace for four months.

If that fails, surgery might be required.

Kegley, Thousand Oaks’ career scoring leader, experienced pain in his back at various times during his three-year varsity career, but its cause had been attributed to growth spurts.
