Moorpark Throws One Away to Oxnard

Scott Robertson (5-3) pitched a three-hitter with five strikeouts and one walk for Oxnard College in a 1-0 victory over Moorpark on Tuesday in a Western State Conference Northern Division baseball game at Oxnard.

Danny Chaparro had two hits and scored on a throwing error for the Condors (19-16, 12-8 in conference play) in the first inning.

Pierce 10, Bakersfield 1--Joel Kirsten struck out 11, walked none and threw a five-hitter to lead the Brahmas in a WSC Southern Division victory at Pierce.

Ryan Cope and Randy Curtis each had three hits for Pierce (23-13, 14-7).

Westmont 6, The Master’s 5--Ryan Pollard hit a three-run double, but the Mustangs (20-22, 9-16) lost a Golden State Athletic Conference game in 10 innings at Westmont.

Mike Clifton hit a run-scoring single to win the game for Westmont (14-26, 8-16).

SOFTBALL

Canyons 5, Bakersfield 0--Amanda DeFusco hit a three-run home run and Corrie Atwood and Kortney Downen each had two hits for the Cougars in a WSC Southern Division game at Bakersfield.

Stephanie Blaire (16-8) pitched a four-hitter and walked none for Canyons (26-11, 18-3).

The three-time conference champion Cougars begin regional playoffs May 5.

Point Loma 4-4, The Master’s 0-2--Crystal Brown was four for six for the Mustangs, who were swept at Master’s.
