Grant Coach Howard Levine’s concern about tonight’s game at Verdugo Hills is not a case of an overcautious coach. He knows that a rematch can have a far different result than the first meeting of the season.

A victory would give the Lancers the Sunset Six League boys’ championship. Grant defeated the Dons, 99-51, Jan. 24.

Following Wednesday’s 74-64 victory over North Hollywood, which gave his team a one-game lead over the Huskies with one game left in league play, Levine recalled his first year of coaching freshman basketball.

“We lost to a team by 50 in the first round and we won in the second round,” Levine said.

To guard against a repeat of that scenario, Levine said he planned to put his team through a “full scrimmage” Thursday.

“We can’t take anyone lightly,” Levine said. “We do have a tendency to take people lightly.”
