Long Beach Wins Softball Tournament at Golden West

Long Beach defeated Arizona Western, 1-0, Sunday to win the championship of the Golden West softball tournament.
Arizona Western’s Nuvia Marti, a Garden Grove High alumnus, was named most valuable pitcher of the tournament at Golden West College.
Santa Ana’s Inez Vasquez and Ana Velazquez were named to the all-tournament team, along with Franny Landman of Golden West.
In another tournament game:
Santa Ana 5, Pasadena 2--Ana Velazquez had three hits and drove in two runs and Kristen Smith added two hits, including a double for Santa Ana (15-5).
