Washington Commits to Cal

Wesley Washington, a 6-foot-3 junior guard from Santa Ana Mater Dei, has committed to attend California in the fall of 2003.

Washington, a member of The Times’ All-Star team and player of the year in Orange County, averaged 16.5 points and 4.5 assists.

He led the Monarchs (29-5) to the Southern Section Division II-AA championship and scored 25 points in an upset of nationally top-ranked Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill Academy.
