Actor Tom Sizemore, who plays a police lieutenant in the CBS series “Robbery Homicide Division,” was arrested by Los Angeles police after a woman alleged that he hit and threatened her, officials said Monday.

Sizemore, 41, was taken into custody Saturday at his home in the 2700 block of Hudson Place in West Los Angeles after the woman, with whom police said he had a “dating relationship,” alleged that he “hit her in the face and threw her to the ground” that morning, said LAPD Lt. Horace Frank.

The actor was booked at the Pacific Division station on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery and released on $2,500 bail, pending a Jan. 8 appearance in L.A. Superior Court.

A spokesman for the Los Angeles city attorney’s office said that after the arrest, Sizemore was served with an emergency protective order requiring him to keep away from the woman.

An attorney for the star of the CBS television show, which is based on the work of the LAPD’s detective unit, called the allegations unfounded. Robert Barta said the woman “became unruly when asked to leave and was escorted out of Mr. Sizemore’s house.”

Sizemore’s film credits include “Heat,” “Saving Private Ryan” and “Black Hawk Down.” He debuted this television season as Lt. Sam Cole in “Robbery Homicide Division.” If convicted, Sizemore faces up to a year in county jail and a $2,000 fine.
