Valiantly Coming Off Upset

Last seen posting a 46-1 shocker in the PCQHRA Breeders’ Futurity nine months ago, Valiantly will have seven opponents in tonight’s $15,000 Mission Beach Handicap.

Owned by Fiorencia Garcia and trained by Felix Gonzalez, the 3-year-old Corona Cartel filly surprised Deefirst and eight others in the Futurity last Sept. 13, only 15 days after she had qualified with a victory by a nose at 12-1 in one of the trials.

Valiantly, who has won three of eight races, will face Red Lipstick, Punkys Pet, Royal Ready Too Wear, Special Fast Lady, A Tempting Chick, Royal Quick Mongoose and First Rate Choice in the 220-yard race.

The well-traveled Punkys Pet will be making her Los Alamitos debut for owner Jerry Wallace II and trainer Chuck Treece.

The Dashing With Cash filly has won eight of 13 while racing in Minnesota, Wyoming, Montana and South Dakota.
