Dominguez picks up another title

Brandon Johnson rushed 23 times for 236 yards and two touchdowns, including a one-yard run with 1 minute 6 seconds left, and Compton Dominguez (13-1) defeated West Torrance, 28-21, to win the Southern Section Western Division championship, its second in a row.

Brian Baucham rushed 28 times for 246 yards and scores of 53, 55 and eight yards for the Warriors (12-1-1), whose final drive ended at the Dominguez 23 with eight seconds left.

Westlake Village Oaks Christian 46, Oak Park 7 -- Quarterback Jimmy Clausen completed 19 of 25 passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns, and the top-seeded Lions (14-0) won the Northwest Division championship, their fourth consecutive Southern Section title and 45th consecutive victory.

With the victory, Oaks Christian all but assures itself of being Southern California’s representative to the Division III game of the inaugural CIF State Bowl Game on Dec. 16 at the Home Depot Center in Carson.

La Palma Kennedy 29, Anaheim 10 -- Edward Pleasant carried 26 times for 118 yards and three touchdowns and caught a pass from Eric Okula for a 40-yard touchdown in the Southern Division championship at Orange Coast College.

Placentia El Dorado 17, Covina Charter Oak 6 -- Senior running back Phillip Van Holland rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns in 32 carries and Matt Cardenas intercepted two passes for top-seeded El Dorado (13-1) in the Southwest Division final at Citrus College.

Montebello Schurr 40, Santa Fe Springs Santa Fe 22 -- Senior quarterback Joseph Orduno completed 12 of 14 passes for 205 yards and four touchdowns to lead the unseeded Spartans (10-4) to the Southeast Division title at Cal State Fullerton.
