Los Angeles Fairfax doesn’t have a standout offensive player as in recent years, but the team concept seems to be working fine.

Four players who are averaging between 13.7 and 15.2 points scored in double figures Saturday night as the Lions, ranked No. 2 in the Southland by The Times, defeated No. 6 Compton Centennial, 63-51, in the featured game of the California Hoops Challenge at Lakewood Artesia.

Jerren Shipp, who was coming off a career-high 33-point performance in a Western League victory Friday night over Palisades, scored a team-high 17 points against Centennial. Chace Stanback had 16 points, JaShon Hampton scored 13 and Temple-bound center Matt Shaw had 10 for Fairfax (15-2).

“We’re hard to go at,” Shipp said. “You never know who’s going to score.”

Jervaughn Johnson and Jonathan Malloy scored 14 each for Centennial (15-3).
