Ankeny scored 13 points to lead Capistrano Valley (10-0), which trailed, 33-27 early in the fourth quarter. Chad de Casas scored 10 points and Davis Baker had nine for the Cougars. Vince Van Kurin scored 10 points to lead Esperanza (8-2), but missed a running bank shot at the buzzer.

Landon Plumier had 12 points and Kyle Wood added 11 to lead San Clemente (4-6), which held Katella (3-7), to 14 second-half points.

Arroyo Grande (4-5) made 10 and 13 free throws in overtime and 31 of 38 for the game to secure the win and finish third in round-robin play. Brad Wrage led the Eagles with 24 points and teammate Victor Garza added 20 points. Lompoc’s Boo Jackson, who was the starting quarterback for the Division X championship team, had 34 points. Lompoc is 2-7.

Mater Dei 79, Redondo 55
Marcel Jones, the tournament most valuable player, made his first four shots and finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Monarchs (10-1) to the championship of the Irvine World Tournament.

Mater Dei had 12 three-pointers by six different players. Freshman Taylor King, an all tournament selection, contributed 15 points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots. King also made four three pointers. Mater Dei played without 6-foot-9 Chris Henry, who missed the game because of a sprained ankle.

Jonas Lalehzadeh’s three-pointer with 15 seconds remaining in the game gave Univeristy a one-point lead and Lalehzadeh then hit two free throws with one second left to seal the victory for the Trojans. Jon Asnon had 19 points to lead Univeristy (6-2).

Hart tied the game, 52-52, with 2:52 left before Crescenta Valley went on a 9-4 run to close the game out. Oliver, who hit five free throws during the closing run, was named tournament MVP. Bandari and teammate George Aposhian were named to the all-tournament team. Adam Rich had 17 points and was named all-tournament for Hart (8-1) .

Mills added nine rebounds, six assists and four steals, Darrell Thomas had 12 points and six rebounds and Rogers had 11 points and four assists for the Golden Eagles. Cheyenne hit a half-court shot at the overtime buzzer to account for the final points.

Oak Hill (15-0), the top-ranked team in the U.S., got 17 points apiece from Josh Smith and Brian Johnson and handed Fairfax (6-1) its first loss of the season. Josh Shipp led Fairfax with 19 points and Jamal Boykin added 18 for the Lions. Fairfax, ranked 15th in the country, will play the nation’s seventh-ranked team, Rockville (Md.) Montrose Christian, in Saturday’s third-place game. Montrose Christian dropped a 64-53 decision to Mt. Vernon (N.Y.) in the other semifinal.
