Corona del Mar, No. 4 in the Times’ rankings, won all nine doubles sets as the Sailors (2-1) defeated the Warriors (1-2), ranked No. 9 by the Times, in a nonleague match at Corona del Mar.Troy junior Clare Fermin won three sets, defeating Jillian Damion, 7-5, Brittany Holland, 6-3, and Amanda Rubenstein, 6-3, to improve her season record to 7-2 in sets. Teammate Cosmina Ciobanu blanked Damion, 6-0, improving her season mark to 7-0 before she retired from the match because of an upset stomach. Ciobanu was replaced in the lineup by a substitute for the last two rounds of round-robin play. Claire Fermin swept at No. 2 singles for Troy.

It was the 700th career victory for Palisades coach Bud Kling, who has coached the Dolphin boys’ team since 1980 and the girls since 1984. Kling has a 700-68 record and has led the program to 24 City Section titles.
