Baseball: Noah Kronfly keeps Edison unbeaten in Sunset League

In a very competitive Sunset League, Huntington Beach Edison (11-3, 3-0) might be considered an early season surprise under first-year Coach Cameron Chinn. But don’t tell that to pitcher Noah Kronfly, who improved to 4-0 on Friday and outdueled UCLA-bound Jacob Nix in a 1-0 victory over Los Alamitos.

Phillip Knapp drove in the game’s only run with a second-inning RBI single. Kronfly allowed two hits. Fountain Valley defeated Newport Harbor, 10-0. Dylan Persinger hit a two-run home run. Brock Lundquist hit his fourth home run of the season. Willie Aguilar had three hits. Scott Schultz threw five shutout innings.

Cooper Moore had two hits in Huntington Beach’s 9-3 win over Marina.

In the Moore League, Long Beach Wilson defeated Lakewood, 2-1. Josh Goldberg struck out 13 in a complete game.

In the Mission League, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame defeated Crespi, 4-1. Jake Hirabayashi and Jordan Myrow each had two hits. Alemany defeated St. Francis, 13-2. Demetri Pagalidis had three hits and three RBIs.

In the Foothill League, Hart stayed undefeated with a 4-1 win over Golden Valley. Jack Ralston threw a four-hitter. West Ranch defeated Saugus, 2-1. Jake Bird, returning from a hamstring injury, got the save, striking out four in two innings. Parker Bacon had a pinch-hit two-run single. Valencia defeated Canyon, 2-0.

In the Tri-Valley League, Oaks Christian defeated Nordhoff, 10-0. Spencer Vogelbach allowed two hits and struck out 10 in six innings. Noah Prewett had three hits, including two doubles. Brent Schatz had three hits, with a double and triple.

In the East Valley League, Arleta defeated Poly, 3-2, in eight innings. Mike Galindo threw a complete game. Jose Mercado had the game-winning hit. North Hollywood defeated Chavez, 1-0. Andrew Marmor threw a complete game.

Esperanza defeated Brea, 7-0. Griffin Barnes had three RBIs. Dominic Potlongo threw a three-hitter. Trabuco Hills defeated El Toro, 4-2. El Dorado defeated El Modena, 4-2.

In a nonleague game, El Camino Real defeated Narbonne, 2-1. Brian Gallagher allowed five hits to outduel All-City pitcher Daniel Rocha. Granada Hills defeated Verdugo Hills, 10-0. John Schultz threw a three-hitter.

In the Sierra League, Grant Hockin pitched Damien past Claremont, 7-1. He allowed two hits. Chino Hills defeated Ayala, 23-1. J.P. Hopkins hit two home runs. Jason Zeigler hit a grand slam.

Sierra Canyon defeated Portland Christian, 7-0. Freshman Seth Stone struck out five. In the second game, Sierra Canyon defeated Arizona Chinle, 15-0, for the 500th career coaching victory for Rick Weber. Joe Hardon threw a no-hitter. Jake Fried had three RBIs.

Heritage Christian defeated Valley Christian, 7-5, in 12 innings. Adam Jelloian had three hits and three RBIs.

Chaminade defeated Cantwell-Sacred Heart, 7-2. Nick Kahle had three hits.
