Baseball: Crespi gets Division 1 wild-card win over Long Beach Poly, 6-2
Encino Crespi, the fifth-place finisher in the tough Mission League, opened the Southern Section Division 1 playoffs on Tuesday night with a 6-2 win over Long Beach Poly at Blair Field in a wild-card game. The Celts advance to play at Marmonte League champion Agoura on Friday.
Sal Johnson picked up the pitching victory, allowing three hits in five innings. Justin Dehn got the save.
Calvin Estrada had three hits and two RBIs. Sophomore Matt Cassin and junior Chris May each had two hits and one RBI.
