Baseball: Pitchers throw shutout for South in North-South Series

Pitchers Brian Gadsby of Crescenta Valley, Hazahel Quijada of San Gorgonio and Tim Holdgrafer of La Jolla combined to allow just two hits over nine innings to help the South defeat the North, 3-0, in the opening game of the North-South Series at Santa Clara University on Saturday.
Zack Sharpley of Mission Viejo had a double and Gage Canning of Ramona had an RBI triple.
In the second game, the North won, 2-1. Andrew Bash of Palm Desert, Randy Labaut of Downey and Kenny Varnell of Moorpark pitched for the South.
