A West Hills-based club team, the Pacific Baseball Academy, made up primarily of players from the San Fernando Valley, won the Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic over the weekend, going 6-0.
The team was led by sophomore third baseman Parker Brahms of Calabasas. He’s 6 feet 2 and expected to be one of the better hitters in the Marmonte League this spring. Sophomore pitcher Paul Giacomazzi threw seven scoreless innings. Sophomore shortstop Ivan Lomeli of Birmingham was solid in the field.
The team’s head coach was Calabasas’ Thomas Cassidy, with Harvard-Westlake assistant Richard Sugiyama.
