Baseball: The Meusborn-LaCour duo produces gold
- Share via
Matt LaCour graduated from Chatsworth High and once was an assistant to Coach Tom Meusborn. Then they became rivals when LaCour became coach at El Camino Real.
Their friendship was tested when LaCour hired a former Chatsworth player as pitching coach after leaving for Harvard-Westlake. But, thankfully, it was repaired, because the two have always worked so well together.
And on Sunday in Colombia, they got to hoist the championship trophy won by the USA 15U baseball team, with Meusborn as the head coach and LaCour serving as his assistant.
The gold medal is a fitting ending to Meusborn’s high school coaching days. He resigned at Chatsworth at the end of last season after being coach since 1990. He will become an assistant at Cal State Northridge.
