Baseball: Torrance forfeits playoff win after holding illegal batting practice
Well, it’s happened again.
Despite well-publicized past cases of schools being forced to forfeit victories after conducting illegal pregame batting practice, the Southern Section announced on Friday that Torrance has to forfeit a playoff win on Thursday for the same violation.
Fullerton will advance in the Division 4 playoffs.
Torrance had won the game, 4-1.
Fullerton had protested the game and there was video of the infraction. The Southern Section reviewed the video and made the decision.
The South Bay seems to be having difficulty understanding the rule. Peninsula had to forfeit for a similar violation two years ago.
