Boys’ basketball: 6-10 Larond Williams is cleared to play for Price
Los Angeles Price (2-0), which has advanced to the semifinals of the Maranatha tournament, has received eligibility clearance to play 6-foot-10 St. Anthony transfer Larond Williams, a Long Beach State State signee.
Price will be play Chino Hills on Friday in a 6:30 p.m. semifinal.
Price has lots of size and will have to figure out how to deal with the Ball brothers, Lonzo and LiAngelo, who combined to score 83 points on Wednesday in a 111-80 win over Dorsey.
“I’m going through that in my mind,” Price Coach Michael Lynch said. “I saw the first quarter and was going, ‘Oh my goodness.’ Whoever can control the tempo of the game is the winner.”
Williams will join 6-6 Roderick Williams and 6-7 Kesean Davis. Price already has one of the top guards in the Southland in American-bound James Washington.
