Boys’ basketball: Mater Dei suffers rare second consecutive loss

There haven’t been too many times that Santa Ana Mater Dei’s boys’ basketball team has lost consecutive games, but that’s what has happened to the Monarchs playing in the powerful City of Palms tournament in Florida.
Mater Dei lost to Virginia Paul VI, 57-56, on Monday.
La’vette Parker scored 25 points for the Monarchs, who are 7-2 this season after going unbeaten last year.
Also in the tournament is Sierra Canyon, which defeated Webster Groves, 60-42. Devearl Ramsey had 13 points.
