It could be the game of the year in high school basketball _ at least for this weekend.
No. 1 Sierra Canyon (15-1) will play No. 2 Fairfax (21-0) on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Fairfax as game No. 8 of the Fairfax State Preview Classic.
It’s going to be tricky for fans wanting to attend the game. There will be nine games on Saturday starting at 8 a.m. Admission is $10. You can see one game or nine games. But if the gym is sold out prior to the Sierra Canyon-Fairfax game, you’re out of luck. You can’t leave and come back.
Here’s the link to the complete schedule.
It’s rare for No. 1 to face No. 2 but it might happen in back to back weeks. Next week, Fairfax is scheduled to face Mater Dei on Feb. 7 in the Nike Extravaganza. Mater Dei is ranked No. 3 by The Times.
Sierra Canyon poses a big challenge for Fairfax in that 6-foot-8 Cody Riley is unlike any big man the Lions have faced all season.
