Alemany was one loss away from being on the bubble for the Pac-5 playoffs. But a 34-7 victory over Crespi on Friday night not only gave the Warriors (8-2) a share of the Serra League championshp but also could propel them into a No. 4 seed.
“All I know is I don’t have to sweat it out,” Coach Dean Herrington said.
Alemany is 14-2 in league with four league titles the last four seasons. Herrington has won or shared 27 league titles in his 30 years of coaching. Alemany will enter the playoffs No. 1 from the league by virtue of a win over co-champion Sherman Oaks Notre Dame.
Junior Dominic Davis came through with a huge game. He rushed for 130 yards and one touchdown and had a 58-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Alemany’s defense, missing five starters to injuries, has begun to stop teams. Defensive ends Quintin Sims and Tyree Thompson have helped fill in for the injured Kevin Summers, who is expected back next week.
