Football: Mater Dei is new No. 1 team in Pac-5 rankings

Let’s just call the Pac-5 football rankings by the coaches a little weird.

Last week, St. John Bosco remained No. 1 over Mater Dei despite losing to Bishop Gorman.

But this week, Mater Dei takes over the No. 1 spot despite surviving a missed field goal by Westlake as the time expired, 28-27, and St. John Bosco defeating Crenshaw, 65-7.

St. John Bosco is No. 2, Alemany No. 3 and Corona Centennial No. 4.
