Football: Passing competition at Chaminade shows off lots of talent

Oaks Christian shows off lots of talent

USC freshman receiver Michael Pittman was up bright and early Saturday morning to offer some tips to his former Oaks Christian teammates competing at a passing competition at Chaminade that included his little brother, Mycah, a freshman receiver.

Pittman was beaming after Mycah made a circus catch. Oaks Christian had plenty to be excited about. Junior to be quarterback Matt Corral was throwing long passes with great touch. Stanford-bound tight end Colby Parkinson was simply magnificent. He had a one-handed catch that he’ll surely duplicate when the pads come on in the fall.

And there was freshman cornerback Zach Charbonnet lining up against one of the best athletes in the Southland in Calabasas’ Darnay Holmes and more than holding his own.

Chaminade showed off Alemany transfer Brevin White at quarterback. The long ball is back in the Eagles’ arsenal, and no one should be more excited than receiver Michael Wilson.

JSerra also participated and has a promising 6-foot-3, 190-pound junior to be defensive back-tight end in Ryan Fields.

Nebraska-bound QB Tristan Gebbia of Calabasas will have plenty of top athletes to distribute the ball to.

It’s the beginning of a long spring and summer of passing competitions, and Oaks Christian will have much to offer.
