Girls’ basketball: Santa Barbara’s Amber Melgoza scores 45 points

Amber Melgoza of Santa Barbara, a 5-foot-10 junior, is scoring points in bunches this season.
One night after scoring 37 points against Bakersfield Centennial, she poured in 45 points on Friday in a 69-60 win over Pacifica in the Gold Coast tournament.
Melgoza averaged 22.1 points as a sophomore in helping Santa Barbara reach the state Division III championship game before a loss to Modesto Christian.
Santa Barbara is off to a 6-0 start.
