Loyola athletes engage in an Ultimate Frisbee competition

Share

There were no scouts, no parents and no TV cameras to capture the intense competition taking place Tuesday at lunch time at Loyola High.

Football and baseball players from the school enjoyed every minute of it. They engaged in an Ultimate Frisbee competition for bragging rights and a free intramural T-shirt to the winners.

Team Gonzalez, loaded with future Pac-12 recruits, triumphed. There was UCLA-bound Nathan Hadley, Stanford-bound Quinn Brodey, USC-bound Angelo Armenta and standout running back Nico Evans.

The winning coach was basketball guard Thomas Lapham, who was doing his Phil Jackson imitation.

Yes, it was a little silly but it has become a tradition at Loyola.

The losers will start practicing tomorrow for next year’s rematch.
