Water polo: It’s a Harvard-Westlake vs. Mater Dei rematch

For the fourth time this season, Santa Ana Mater Dei and Harvard-Westlake will meet in water polo, only this time it’s for the Southern Section Division 1 championship.
Harvard-Westlake defeated Newport Harbor, 9-6, on Wednesday in its semifinal game. Mater Dei defeated Loyola, 7-3. The two schools will play for the championship on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Woollett Aquatics Center in Irvine.
Harvard-Westlake’s Johnny Hooper had vowed to get his team into the championship game and have another opportunity against the Monarchs and he delivered, scoring four goals.
In the City Section championship, Palisades defeated El Camino Real, 11-6.
