The Times’ 2011 high school boys’ basketball All-Star team

Ryan Anderson, Long Beach Poly, 6-7, Sr. — The Boston College-bound Anderson averaged 16.4 points and 9.8 rebounds in leading the Jackrabbits to the Southern Section Division 1AA championship. He was the Gatorade state player of the year.

Katin Reinhardt, Mater Dei, 6-5, Jr. — Reinhardt was among the region’s most improved players, averaging 17.5 points. He became a dependable scoring threat from three-point range but also contributed on drives, scoring 17 points in Mater Dei’s Division I state championship win over Concord De La Salle.

Cezar Guerrero, St. John Bosco, 6-0, Sr. — Guerrero emerged as the most prolific scoring guard in the Southland, averaging nearly 28 points per game. He had 48 points against state Division I champion Mater Dei. He’s headed to Oklahoma State.

Long Beach Poly’s Ryan Anderson is the player of the year

Xavier Johnson, Mater Dei, 6-7, Jr. — With long arms, quickness and immense athletic ability, Johnson was the player opponents had to focus on when facing Mater Dei. His consistency enabled a young Mater Dei team to finish 32-3 and win an eighth state championship. He averaged 20 points.

Grant Jerrett, La Verne Lutheran, 6-9, Jr. — It’s no coincidence Lutheran won state titles in Division III this season and Division V last season with Jerrett in the middle. He’s an improving big man who’s on his way to becoming a dominant force. He averaged 17.3 points and 9.6 rebounds.

Lonnie Jackson, Valencia, 6-3, Sr. — Jackson averaged 22.8 points and has signed with Boston College after leading the Vikings to a Foothill League title. He scored 33 points in a victory over state Division I runner-up De La Salle.

La Canada’s Tom Hofman is coach of the year

Byron Wesley, Etiwanda, 6-5, Sr. — The USC-bound Wesley used his scoring and rebounding to help Etiwanda become one of the top teams in the Southern California. He averaged 19.2 points, and his toughness earned him respect and accolades from opponents.

Dominique Dunning, Corona Centennial, 6-4, Sr. — The versatile Dunning averaged 20.4 points and 8.3 rebounds while playing a variety of positions and roles for Centennial. He performed his best in big games, leading the Huskies to a 30-5 record. He scored 2,043 points in his high school career and is headed to New Mexico.

Spencer Dinwiddie, Taft, 6-4, Sr. — Dinwiddie was the City Section player of the year for the City Division I champions. As a point guard, he averaged 10.8 points and 7.8 assists and was a coach on the court. He has signed with Colorado.

Wesley Saunders, L.A. Windward, 6-6, Sr. — The Harvard-bound Saunders helped Windward win the state Division IV championship, averaging 20.2 points and 10 rebounds. He was another versatile player who did whatever was asked of him.
