Greg Patterson made five consecutive free throws in the fourth quarter to break open a close game and lead Montclair Prep to its 16th win in 17 games. The Mounties made 21 of 24 free-throw attempts to hold off the Crusaders, who fell to 2-6 in Alpha League play.
Montclair Prep, 8-1 in league, got 19 points from John Quick, 16 points from Tim Stallworth and 13 from Todd Bowser.
Dave Ellingsford and Jim Edwards both had 16 points for Village Christian, the home team.
