Skip Trial, rested rather than rusty after a 10-week layoff, outran Creme Fraiche in the final furlong and won the $213,400 Massachusetts Handicap at Suffolk Downs by a half-length. Ridden by Jean-Luc Samyn, Skip Trial paid $7.20 to win and was timed in 1:49 4/5 for the 1 1/8 miles.
