Mira Costa High School of Manhattan Beach overcame a rocky start to rally for an 11-15, 15-8, 15-9, 19-17 win over Hueneme of Oxnard Saturday night in the Southern Section 5-A girls’ volleyball championship match at Marina High School in Huntington Beach.

It was the second consecutive 5-A title for Mira Costa.

Coach DaeLea Aldrich’s Mustangs started slowly but rallied behind the play of senior setter Holly McPeak to win the last three games and the match.

McPeak was a steadying factor for Mira Costa, keeping her teammates from being rattled by the large group of Hueneme fans. Down, 13-11, in the fourth game, McPeak served Mira Costa to a 14-13 lead, and the Mustangs went on to win, 19-17.
