L.A. Lutheran 7, La Verne Lutheran 6--L.A. Lutheran receiver Jim Jacobsen caught three passes for 51 yards, ran 10 times for 77 yards and one touchdown, and broke up La Verne’s two-point conversion with 1:06 remaining that would have given the Trojans an Alpha League victory at La Verne Lutheran.
Mark Tietjen kicked an extra point after Jacobsen’s eight-yard touchdown run on the first play of the fourth quarter to give L.A. Lutheran (2-8, 2-5 in league) a 7-0 lead. Jacobsen scored three plays after L.A Lutheran defender Barry Walter recovered a fumble at the La Verne 13.
