FIELD HOCKEY Serra 4, San Marcos 0--Serra High School forward Kris Fillat tied a San Diego Section record by scoring twice in her team’s San Diego Section semifinal field hockey victory at Serra. It is the ninth consecutive season that Serra (19-0) has advanced to the final.

Fillat, a senior who played for the junior varsity as a freshman, now has 106 goals in her three-year career. That ties the section record set in four years (1980-83) by Mare Chung of Serra. Fillat has scored 53 goals this season, which also is a section record. The previous mark was 48 set by Chung in 1982.

Fillat scored her team’s first and last goals. In between, P.J. Myers scored with 16 minutes left in the game and Julia Taylor scored two minutes after that.

San Pasqual 2, Mira Mesa 1--With four minutes left, freshman Jeanne Wells scored on a breakaway to give San Pasqual the victory in the semifinal at Mira Mesa.

Mira Mesa (16-4) took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Sara Hallock. That lead held until the final 10 minutes of the game when San Pasqual defender Cece Boehme scored on a penalty stroke.

“We let down a bit after they scored,” San Pasqual Coach Patrick Sheehan said. “We came out in the second half and we totally forgot about the first half. We kept swarming the goal, and we were stuffing them out on defense.”

San Pasqual, which has never played for the section title, has a 10-8 record.

TENNIS Singles--Fifth-seeded Angelica Gavaldon, a freshman at Academy of Our Lady of Peace High School, defeated second-seeded Laura Richards of Vista, 7-6, 6-0, in the semifinal round of the San Diego Section individual tennis championship at the San Diego Tennis and Racquet Club.

Gavaldon will play Bonita Vista’s Cammie Foley in today’s singles championship. Foley had defeated defending champion and top-seeded Mimi Burgos of University City, 6-3, 5-7, 7-5, Thursday.

Doubles--Poway’s second-seeded team of Carla Quaresma and Charlotte Skive defeated the fifth-seeded Poway team of Jodi Rosano and Laura Newmark, 6-1, 6-2.
