Palisades 41, Jordan 12--Junior quarterback Perry Klein completed 46 of 49 passes for 562 yards and 6 touchdowns in the Crosstown League game at Palisades. Klein broke the national single-game record for most completions. The old mark was 41, set by Dave Geissler of McDonell Central in Chippewa Falls, Wis., in 1981. The state record of 39 was set by Erik Geiger of Laytonville in 1985. Klein also broke the state single-game passing yardage record of 546, set by Steve Woodward of Tamalpais in Mill Valley in 1966. The national record is 588 yards, set by Dwain Frazier of Elmore High in Houston in 1968. Klein could have an even better game had he not had 8 completions for 164 yards taken away because of penalties. In nine games, Klein has completed 247 of 368 attempts for 3,119 yards and 27 touchdowns. Fullback Lou Randall had 9 receptions for 95 yards and touchdowns of 14, 15 and 7 yards, and slotback Robert Scott had 14 catches for 197 yards and touchdowns of 60 and 8 yards. Palisades is 5-0 in league and 7-2 overall. Jordan is 0-4-1, 1-7-1.

Carson 35, Crenshaw 7--George Malauulu threw a 53-yard touchdown pass left-handed to Brian Treggs and a 56-yarder right-handed to Tyrone Bland in the Pacific League game at Crenshaw. Malauulu finished 4 of 10 for 121 yards and added a 50-yard touchdown run to help boost the Colts’ record to 5-0 in league and 9-0 overall. Crenshaw finishes the season 2-3, 3-6.

Fairfax 15, Washington 14--Fairfax’s Kenneth Finley scored on a 25-yard interception return in the fourth quarter to help give the Lions (3-2) a share of second place in the Crosstown League with Hamilton. Both are assured of playoff spots. Washington scored 14 points in the first quarter on Shaidie Deayon’s 38-yard fumble recovery and Manuel Painia’s 2-yard quarterback sneak. Fairfax answered in the second quarter with a safety and a touchdown. Ricard Saito tackled Washington’s Sam Watson in the end zone for the safety. Then, Alex Watson returned Washington’s free kick 26 yards to the Washington 39-yard line. Six plays later, quarterback James Malbrough ran 11 yards for a touchdown. Craig Pringle kicked the extra point to close the margin to 14-9 at halftime. Finley had a game-high 112 rushing yards in 17 carries. Washington is 5-2-2 overall; Fairfax is 3-6.
