Before the season began, Agoura track Coach Bill Duley expected to have a strong team, but thus far the Chargers have surpassed his expectations.

Led by Bryan Dameworth, the state Division I cross-country champion, the Chargers have a large returning nucleus. But it has been the performances of less heralded athletes that has surprised Duley.

Athletes such as Mike Armstrong and Jeff Ingalls, who helped Agoura charge past Santa Clara, 115-21, in a Frontier League opener at Agoura on Thursday.
