Jordan Back, Poly Lineman Win Top Players of Year

Hard-running Johnny Robinson, who led Jordan High School to its first Moore League title this season, is The Times’ South Coast Back of the Year.
Robinson, a 5-foot-8, 185-pound senior, rushed for 1,463 yards and 13 touchdowns in 222 carries and fumbled only twice.
Michael Loyola of Poly High is Lineman of the Year and Ken Sutch of Paramount High is Coach of the Year.
They were honored Sunday at the 30th annual Times all-star football awrds brunch in the Anaheim Hilton.
The 6-1, 250-pound Loyola, a guard, paved the way for the crucial yards during Poly’s 8-1-1 season. He was All-South Coast two years in a row.
Sutch, in his seventh season as head coach at Paramount, guided the Pirates to a 12-1 season and the CIF Southern Section Division III title.
In the Southeast area, quarterback Greg Willig of St. Paul is Back of the Year, David Ramos of Bell Gardens is Lineman of the Year and Dave Newell of Bell Gardens is Coach of the Year.
