PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP : Romero’s Goals Get Servite Past Marina
Lenny Romero scored two goals in the final 10 minutes of the match to lead Servite High School to a 2-1 victory over Marina in a nonleague boys’ soccer match Thursday at Marina.
Marina took a 1-0 lead in the first minute of the match on Keith Martin’s goal, but Servite (2-4-1) rallied to tie the score.
In nonleague girls’ soccer:
Anaheim 5, Santa Ana Valley 0--Sophomore April Garcia scored three goals to lead host Anaheim (4-1-2). Senior Jenny Koebli and sophomore Janice Roman each scored one goal.
Edison 3, Newport Harbor 0--Jill Krzenski had two goals and Chelsea Williams had one to lead Edison (3-3-1) at Newport Harbor.
El Dorado 5, Villa Park 0--Lisa Darden, Theresa Korte, Christina Fonseca, April Henderson and Michelle Lopiccilo each scored for host El Dorado (4-0-1). Villa Park is 1-4-1.
Marina 1, Tustin 1--Wendy Gratteau scored for Marina (3-2-1) about 15 minutes into the second half to earn the tie after Tustin (4-2-1) led at halftime at home.
Sonora 2, Western 0--Ann Ivory and Katie Holdon each scored to lead host Sonora (2-3-1).
University 2, Irvine 1--Heather Podlich and Kathleen Pitchess had one goal to lead University (1-2-1) at Irvine. Kerri Johnson scored for Irvine. Goalie Kelli Kynoch had 13 saves for University.
Woodbridge 1, San Clemente 0--Talia Emery scored to lead host Woodbridge (4-2-1). Goalie Tanya Dzurilla had seven saves.
