PREP ROUNDUP : Yorba, Hannaman Help Tustin Win in Water Polo

Jeremy Yorba and Damon Hannaman each scored four goals to lead Tustin High School to a 11-6 victory over Buena Park in a nonleague water polo match Tuesday at Tustin.

The Tillers (4-0) took advantage of extra-man situations, scoring eight goals in eight attempts. Goalkeeper Mike Gonzalez made eight saves.

In other nonleague water polo matches:

Cypress 13, Cerritos 6--John Lin scored eight goals for host Cypress (4-1). Marc Havran added two for a Cypress, which outscored Cerritos, 5-1, in the second half. John Panagos had 22 saves for Cypress.

University 12, Mission Viejo 11--Shad Wicker scored with 49 seconds left to break an 11-11 tie for host University. Wicker, a senior, led with six goals.

Valencia 5, Trabuco Hills 3--Chad Beler scored four goals--including two in the third quarter that gave Valencia a 5-3 lead--for host Valencia (5-5).

Saddleback 7, Orange 6--Bryan Howland scored the tying and winning goals in the fourth quarter to lead host Saddleback (8-3). In Century League girls’ tennis:

Villa Park 11, Canyon 7--The No. 3 doubles team of Angie Settle and Yuko Yogi swept, 6-1, 6-3, 6-2, to lead host Villa Park (3-2, 1-0).

Orange 11, Santa Ana Valley 7--Phalen Lim swept her singles sets 6-1, 6-1, 7-5 to lead host Orange (6-1, 1-0).

In nonleague tennis:

El Toro 11, Woodbridge 7--Carrie Anderson and Jocelyn Jespersen swept in doubles (6-1, 6-4, 6-2) for host El Toro (1-5). The Chargers forfeited four early-season victories because they played with an academically ineligible player who has since regained her eligibility.

In Arrowhead League girls’ volleyball:

Calvary Chapel 3, La Verne Lutheran 0--Chris Prigmore had 15 kills as visiting Calvary Chapel (3-1, 3-0) won 15-1, 15-4, 15-3.

In Garden Grove League volleyball:

Garden Grove 3, Los Amigos 0--Amity Inman’s setting helped Garden Grove (2-2, 2-1) prevail, 15-7, 15-2, 15-10 at home.

In Olympic League volleyball:

Orange Lutheran 3, Ayala 0--Stacie Charlton had five of her team’s 10 service aces to lead host Orange Lutheran (5-2, 2-1) to a 15-8, 15-7, 15-6 victory.

In Sunset League volleyball:

Edison 3, Santa Ana 0--Natasha Zila had six kills and six service aces as host Edison (3-6, 1-2) won 15-0, 15-6, 15-9.

In nonleague volleyball:

El Dorado 3, Buena Park 0--Tricia Miltenberger had eight kills and LaNea Jones had five as host El Dorado (5-4) won 15-1, 15-12, 15-11.

University 3, Irvine 0--Shelby Samuelsen had 10 kills to lead visiting University (5-0) to a 15-4, 15-9, 15-8 victory at Irvine.

Liberty Christian 3, Tri-City Christian 0--Jenny Engstrom had 16 aces to lead host Liberty Christian (5-0) to a 15-2, 15-6, 15-4 victory.
