South Pasadena 21, Bell-Jeff 14--Bell-Jeff (0-5) scored twice in the fourth quarter but fell short at South Pasadena.
Bell-Jeff’s Bob Machuca hit a well-covered Mike Montygierd for an eight-yard score in the corner of the end zone with 1:43 to play to pull the Guards to within 21-14.
South Pasadena (4-1) recovered the ensuing onside kick and ran out the clock.
Machuca completed 13 of 23 passes for 128 yards and also scored on a one-yard plunge in the fourth quarter.
