Belmont 47, Verdugo Hills 0--Fortunes went downhill for host Verdugo Hills (1-6, 1-3) soon after it received the opening kickoff. Running back Justin Jamison fumbled on second down and Belmont defensive end Magin Munoz recovered at Verdugo Hills’ eight-yard line.
The Sentinels (4-3, 2-2) scored four plays later on a one-yard run by running back Helmer Vallejos. Belmont scored two more touchdowns in the first quarter, one on a 59-yard pass from quarterback Mario Ruiz to flanker Hecter Ramirez, and one on a 69-yard run by Vallejos, to assume a 20-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Vallejos and Ruiz scored touchdowns on one- and four-yard runs to boost Belmont’s lead to 33-0 at halftime.
