Corona Centennial 28, Highland 6--Highland tailback Cleveland Williams tallied first, but Corona Centennial (3-4) did the rest of the scoring at Quartz Hill to hand the Bulldogs (6-1) their first defeat as a varsity team. Williams’ 12-yard touchdown run capped a 63-yard drive on Highland’s opening possession, but that was the last time the Bulldog offense was heard from.
Centennial took the lead, 7-6, when Larry Baltierra scored on a one-yard sneak early in the second quarter. The Huskies got the ball back when Highland failed to recover the ensuing kickoff. That mistake set up a seven-yard scoring run by running back Joey Arredondo for a 14-6 halftime edge.
Williams led Highland with 98 yards in 23 carries, but managed only nine yards rushing in the second half.
