Recreation Park Will Be Site for South Bay Baseball Classic
Thirty-six of the area’s top high school seniors have been selected to play in the 23rd annual South Bay Athletic Club All-Star Baseball Classic at 7:30 p.m. June 12 at Recreation Park in El Segundo.
Coaches Tim Ammentorp of Ocean League champion Redondo and Ron Kasparian of Western League runner-up Westchester will coach the Red team. Gil Eberhard, co-coach of Bay League champion Peninsula, and Jeff Phillips of Pioneer League co-champion Torrance will coach the Blue team.
Some of the top players include Redondo pitcher Ted Silva, the Ocean League most valuable player; El Segundo outfielder Chris Feeny, the San Fernando League MVP, and Torrance catcher Jason Kendall, the Pioneer League MVP.
The nine-inning game will include a pregame baserunning contest.
